It was officially unveiled yesterday, in the prestigious setting of the Hall of Presidents of CONI in Rome, the program of the 70th edition of the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics. An event that deeply unites citizens and tourists, united by a passion for tradition and sport. A way to celebrate the connection between sports, tradition and cultural identity of the four City States: Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice.
During the presentation press conference, the value and strong identity appeal of the event was highlighted. La Regatta, with its historical procession in period costumes, is much more than a race: it is a tribute to memory and the seafaring spirit that unites past and present in one spectacular celebration.
We now reveal the long-awaited program, full of unmissable cultural events and moments of sharing.
It promises to be unforgettable days for citizens, visitors and fans.
Below are all the details of the planned events:
Sabatement May 17, 2025
5:45 p.m. | Palio with the women’s crews, which will compete along the stretch of sea between Marmorata e Atrani.
6 p.m. | at Umberto I Square at Atrani, presentation of the four men’s crews that will compete on May 18 on a two-thousand-meter course.
Greeting the four Ancient City States, there will be the close passage through the gulf of the school ship “Vespucci.”
At the end of the ceremony, the awarding of the women’s crews will anticipate the departure of the great Historical Procession of the Ancient Maritime Republics which at 7:30 p.m. will begin to parade on the SS163 with departure from Atrani e arrival (around 8:30 p.m.) at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Amalfi, with entrance from Piazza Duomo.
At 23:45 the always long-awaited fireworks display.
Sunday, May 18, 2025 | Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics.
Departure is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. from Cape of Vettica. The finish line will, instead, be placed in front of the Marina Grande. In between, a two-thousand-meter course characterized by a breathtaking panorama.
The event will conclude at the Piazzale Flavio Gioia where the award ceremony for the crews at 13.15.
Also this year the Rai will provide live TV coverage of the event, which will be aired on Rai2, by the Tg2, from 12 noon at 12:50 p.m..
