The Feast of St. Andrew in Amalfi: between faith, tradition and entertainment

30 November

Twice a year, on June 27 and November 30, Amalfi celebrates its patron saint, St. Andrew the Apostle, with great participation, transforming the town into a fascinating stage of faith, history and folklore. An ancient, heartfelt and deeply identifiable occasion that engages citizens and visitors in an emotionally charged experience.

The center of the feast is Amalfi Cathedral, which is dedicated to him: here the solemn Mass is celebrated and from here the procession comes to life, an evocative procession in which the statue of the saint is carried on the shoulders amidst songs, prayers and an entire city that participates with engaging devotion. A symbolic moment of the celebration is the statue’s run down the monumental steps of the cathedral, a gesture of faith, strength and tradition that thrills thousands of people each year.

The Feast of St. Andrew is not just a religious rite, but the most authentic manifestation of the soul of Amalfi, where history, legend, community and spectacle meet.
Believers or the merely curious, all are invited to experience a tradition that excites, unites and tells the true essence of the city.

An event not to be missed.
