Every year Amalfi celebrates its glorious past with the Byzantine New Year’s Eve<\/em><\/strong>: an event that is always highly anticipated and beloved.<\/p>\n The town is transformed into a historical stage, with medieval costume parades, solemn ceremonies and performances enlivening the heart of Amalfi.<\/p>\n A central moment of the event is the solemn investiture of the Magister of Amalfi Civilization<\/em>, a symbolic award given to personalities who have distinguished themselves in the enhancement of the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n The Byzantine New Year is a journey between culture, identity and memory.
